Club Rugby
Currently, Laos has 8 domestic clubs including the Vientiane Buffaloes, Vientiane Lions, Vientiane Wild Hogs, Vientiane Tigers, Xieng Khouang RFC, Xang Kham, Golden Crabs and Kham Bulls; all teams play in the Lao Colours League and the Lao League, an annual competition made up of 8 or more senior and U18 teams from the Lao PDR. Clubs also travel to regional competitions in Thailand and other countries when possible.
Every year, the LRF holds Laos’ premier club competition, the Vientiane 10s. 2021 represented the 14th year of the tournament that now sees more than 20 teams from Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Australia and the US participate each year in a fun weekend of fast-paced action and enthusiastic support. We welcome club teams of all backgrounds to our annual competition.

Vientiane Buffalos
The Lao PDR’s oldest team is the Vientiane Buffalos. The club began as an expat club competing in various regional tournaments and the prestigious Indochina cup. Committed to good, hard, social rugby, the Buffalos are now proud to be made up of a blend of Lao and foreign players, including some members of the Lao PDR National Team.

The Vientiane Buffalettes Rugby Team was created in 2016 with the support of the Vientiane Buffalos Rugby Club. The team welcomes players of all ages and skill levels.
Vientiane Lions
The Vientiane Lions came out of a group of Lao girls that wanted to take the step from touch rugby to contact rugby. The team is made up of a mix of international players and students keen on continuing playing after leaving school. The club also looks after a development side, the Vientiane Cheetahs, outside of the fifteens season.
